Chessington and Hook

Chessington lies south of Surbiton and Tolworth, along the A243 Hook Road and Leatherhead Road. The area runs from the Hook roundabout on the A3, through the shops and houses around Chessington North station, to Chessington South and the countryside towards Leatherhead. Chessington World of Adventures, the theme park and zoo, sits at the southern end of Leatherhead Road.

The quick way to Gatwick

The A243 runs straight from Chessington to the M25 at Junction 9, Leatherhead, which makes Chessington one of the best-placed parts of our area for Gatwick.

• Gatwick: typically 35 to 50 minutes, via the M25 and M23
• Heathrow: typically 40 to 55 minutes, via the A3 and Kingston or via the M25
• London City: typically 75 to 95 minutes

Chessington stations

Chessington North and Chessington South are on the branch line from Waterloo via Raynes Park. Trains are less frequent than on the main line, so a taxi can save a long wait, especially in the evenings. We can also drive you to a London terminus such as London Bridge or Waterloo.

Theme park visitors

Chessington World of Adventures attracts visitors from all over the south-east, particularly in the summer and school holidays. If you are staying in the area or arriving at a station, we can take your family to the park and collect you at closing time. For larger families, a 6 seater or 7 seater taxi fits everyone. The park's entrance and drop-off arrangements can change, so tell us your ticket details and we will plan the drop-off.

Getting out to the M25

The A243 between Hook and the M25 is Chessington's main road. It is quick early in the morning, but it slows near the theme park entrance on busy days and at the Malden Rushett end on weekday mornings. Your driver will judge whether to go that way or via the A3 depending on traffic, and the fare you were quoted will not change.

Chessington is surrounded by green belt, with Horton Country Park and the farmland around Malden Rushett to the south. Some addresses here are on narrow lanes or farm tracks. When you book, tell us about anything that will help your driver find you, especially after dark.

Days out beyond the theme park

Chessington is a good base for days out across Surrey. We drive families to Box Hill, to the market town of Leatherhead, and to Epsom Downs for the racing. Leaving the car at home means everyone can enjoy the day, and you only need to call us when you are ready to come back.
