Esher and its surroundings
Esher is a Surrey town south-west of Kingston, on the A307 Portsmouth Road. The High Street has shops, restaurants and pubs, and Sandown Park Racecourse sits on the hill just north of the centre. To the south is the A3 Esher bypass and Esher Common; to the west, Claremont Landscape Garden, run by the National Trust.
We provide service in Kingston, Esher is usually 15 to 20 minutes away via Surbiton and the Portsmouth Road, or via Hampton Court.
Close to the A3 and M25
Esher's position near the A3 makes it well placed for the M25 at Junction 10, and from there to both Heathrow and Gatwick.
- Heathrow: typically 30 to 45 minutes
- Gatwick: typically 35 to 50 minutes
- Luton: typically 60 to 80 minutes
These are typical estimates. The M25 can be slow at peak times.
For Gatwick, your driver will usually join the M25 at Junction 10 and head east. For Heathrow, there is a choice between the M25 and the route through Hampton and Feltham.
Sandown Park race days and events
Sandown Park hosts horse racing throughout the year, along with exhibitions and events. On race days, the roads around Esher get busy and parking is limited. A taxi gets you there and home without anyone having to drive. Book your return at the same time, as demand at the end of a race meeting can be high. For a group, a 7 seater taxi keeps everyone together.
Esher station
Esher station is on the main South Western Railway line from Waterloo, next to Sandown Park. If you are arriving by train for the races or an event, or coming home with luggage, we can meet you at the station.
Weddings, dinners and evenings out
Esher and its neighbours have plenty of restaurants and venues popular for celebrations. We collect from homes and hotels in the area and take guests home at the end of the evening. See our hotel transfer taxi page for more on hotel pick-ups.
Local journeys
We also drive Esher residents to Kingston and Surbiton, to stations, and to appointments across the area.
Claremont, the Common and Hinchley Wood
Claremont Landscape Garden, on the edge of Esher, is a popular National Trust visit, and Esher Common and West End Common give plenty of walking. Hinchley Wood, on the other side of the A3, has its own station on the line to Waterloo via Surbiton. We pick up across all these areas and know the roads that join them, including the slip roads on and off the A3.
Business travel from Esher
Esher has many people who travel regularly for work. A pre-booked car to Heathrow or Gatwick means you can work on the way rather than drive and park. For regular trips, ask about [account bookings — confirm before publishing].
Sandown and the station on race days
On busy race days, crowds arriving by train walk from Esher station straight up to the racecourse, and the roads between the station and the High Street fill quickly. If you are being collected, agree a clear meeting point with us beforehand, away from the main gates, so your driver can find you quickly when racing ends.
Nearby areas
We pick up in Chessington to the east, Hampton across the river, and Claygate, Hinchley Wood and Oxshott nearby. See all our areas on the areas we cover page.
