Getting around Teddington
Teddington is a riverside town just across Kingston Bridge, through Hampton Wick. Its two shopping streets, the High Street and Broad Street, meet near the station, with residential roads spreading out towards Bushy Park in the south-west and the river to the east. Teddington Lock, the furthest point upstream where the Thames is tidal, is a short walk from the High Street.
From our base on Fairfield Road, we can usually reach most of Teddington in around 10 minutes.
Close to Heathrow
Teddington is one of the closest parts of our area to Heathrow. Drivers head west along the Hampton Road and up through Hampton Hill and Feltham, or take the A316 depending on traffic.
| Destination | Typical time from Teddington |
|---|---|
| Heathrow | 25 to 40 minutes |
| Gatwick | 50 to 65 minutes |
| Stansted | 75 to 100 minutes |
These are typical estimates.
For a long-haul flight, plan around the airline's check-in times and add the drive time plus a buffer. We track your flight on the way back, and meet and greet is available on request.
Teddington station
Teddington station is on the South Western Railway Kingston loop, with trains towards Kingston, Twickenham and Waterloo. For commuters the train is often fine. For early flights, late returns or when engineering works are on, a car is simpler. We can also drive you to a London terminus such as Waterloo or Charing Cross.
Bushy Park and local events
Bushy Park, the second largest of the Royal Parks, borders Teddington, and its weekly parkrun and seasonal events bring a lot of visitors. If you are coming for an event and want to avoid parking, book a drop-off and collection near the Teddington Gate or Chestnut Avenue.
Families and schools
Teddington has a lot of families and schools. Our school run taxi can handle regular term-time journeys, and for holidays a 6 seater taxi keeps everyone together with their luggage.
Local journeys
People in Teddington book us for trips to Kingston and Richmond, to Kingston Hospital, to Hampton Court and back, and for nights out on the High Street.
The National Physical Laboratory and local employers
Teddington is home to the National Physical Laboratory, on the edge of Bushy Park, as well as several other businesses and schools. Visitors flying into Heathrow for meetings often book us to collect them from the airport and take them straight to their appointment. If you are arranging travel for a visitor, give us their name, flight number and the address of the site, and tell us which gate they should use.
River life
Teddington's riverside, from the lock to the boatyards and rowing clubs, is busy on summer weekends. If you are going to a regatta, a riverside wedding or a pub by the water, book a return so you are not looking for a taxi at the end of the day.
Teddington to central London
For evenings in town, Teddington residents often book a car to the West End and back, especially when the last convenient train home is early. Your driver can take the A316 through Richmond towards Hammersmith, or the A3 from Kingston, depending on traffic.
Nearby areas
We also cover Hampton Wick next door, Hampton to the west, and Ham across the river by Teddington Lock. Every area is on our areas we cover page.
