Hampton, west of Kingston

Hampton lies along the north bank of the Thames, west of Hampton Court Palace and Bushy Park. The old village centre is around Thames Street and Church Street by St Mary's Church, with the station further north on Station Road. Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare, built by the actor David Garrick, stands on the riverbank, and Hampton Pool, an open-air heated pool, is on the edge of Bushy Park.

From our base in Kingston, we usually reach Hampton in about 15 minutes along the A308 Hampton Court Road.

The closest airport run in our area

Hampton is a short drive from Heathrow, which makes it a popular pick-up for our Heathrow airport taxi. Your driver will usually head north on the A312 through Hampton Hill and Feltham.

DestinationTypical time from Hampton
Heathrow20 to 35 minutes
Gatwick50 to 65 minutes
Stansted75 to 100 minutes
Luton55 to 75 minutes

Times are typical estimates and vary with traffic.

Because Heathrow is so close, it is tempting to leave it late. Remember that the terminals themselves take time to reach, especially Terminal 4, and that security queues vary. Plan to arrive at the terminal at the time your airline recommends.

Hampton station

Hampton station is on the South Western Railway Shepperton branch, with trains to Waterloo via Kingston and Wimbledon. If you have luggage, an early start or a late return, a car is the easier choice. We can also take you to a London terminus such as Paddington for trains west.

Hampton Court Palace and events

Hampton Court Palace, a short drive east, hosts events throughout the year, from the garden festival in summer to concerts and the ice rink in winter. Visitors staying in Hampton or arriving from further away often use us to get to the palace and home again. For a group, a 7 seater taxi keeps everyone together.

Weddings and celebrations

Hampton and the surrounding riverside are popular for weddings and parties. We can collect guests from local hotels, homes and stations, and get them home again at the end of the night. Our hotel transfer taxi page explains how we work with hotel pick-ups.

Hampton Hill and the High Street

North of the station, Hampton Hill has its own High Street of shops, cafés and the Hampton Hill Theatre, with Bushy Park's Hampton Hill Gate close by. We pick up across both Hampton and Hampton Hill, and our drivers know the quieter roads between them that avoid the traffic on the Uxbridge Road.

A morning flight from Hampton

With Heathrow so close, Hampton is a sensible place to start an early flight. Even so, give yourself time. Terminal 5 and Terminal 4 sit at opposite ends of the airport, and the drive between the airport perimeter and your terminal can take longer than the drive from Hampton itself. Tell us your terminal and we will plan your pick-up time.

Nearby areas

We also cover Hampton Wick and Teddington to the east, Hampton Hill to the north, and Hampton Court and East Molesey across the river. See the full list on our areas we cover page.
